Sitemap Intelligence tracks the per-domain URL inventory over time. It detects when pages are added, removed, or changed — giving early warning of site structure issues, accidental deletions, or content freshness problems.
What It Shows
- Total URLs — current sitemap URL count for this domain
- New URLs — pages added since the last crawl
- Removed URLs — pages deleted or removed from the sitemap
- Page churn chart — weekly URL count over time, showing growth or contraction
How to Use
A stable URL count is normal. Watch for:
- Sudden URL drop (>10%) — may indicate a CMS misconfiguration, bulk delete, or noindex tag accidentally applied to a section
- No URL growth over 3 months — the site is not producing new content; flag for content team
- Rapid URL addition — may be auto-generated pages (tag archives, parameter URLs) that should be noindexed
